What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
Back in the day I spent plenty of hours (IDK how much exactly because I had SPORE on disk at the time, but I'll bet my life savings it was definitely in the thousands, maybe even the tens of thousands) creating my own stories with my own SPORE characters.
A tribal stage and civilization stage with substandard controls and little core differences, a cell stage which is unduly hard as herbivore opposed to carnivore, and a progression system which, at times, means you cannot fully embrace the creativity of the builder are all things which hold Spore back.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 5 more themes were each raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and are not shown.
