What players think
The recurring themes across 47 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
It's very unintuitive to play, story and objectives are majorly conveyed through text boxes and most of the time I wasn't aware of where to go next or which key could fit which door.
Maybe it was just the fact I'd been crushed into the subway for ages before, but the gloom of the industrial dystopia brings a lovely frisson of freedom and exposure - the rain is unending (and excellent), the lighting is neon and aircraft and trains can be heard whooshing past.
The levels are varied, the graphics are appealing, the gameplay is comforting & engaging, most bosses were fun & creative, using the flare gun was awesome and OP near the end, the notes were good, you can save without needing an item, the little voice acting I heard was suitable and welcome, the achievements were fun and I was just very interested to see how all of this would end.
The sound design is often atmospheric and effective, and music enhances specific moments - but there's some very disconcerting sounds for some enemies (the mannequins in particular).
Especially watch out if you're using a controller to play, as some puzzle inputs will only work for the D-pad and not the analogue stick, and one safe-opening puzzle is impossible to complete with a controller (as far as I could tell).
Weird but interesting story, and some really great puzzles that were never too hard but rarely too easy either.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway.
