I've sunk a lot of hours into Tropico 4 because fundamentally, its gameplay loop was very satisfying and its campaign quite fun.
The graphics are very "take it or leave it" - I was just kind of negatively surprised by how they didn't really look any better than 4.
The era progression is also really good and builds a deep connection with the island as you nurture it from Colony to Modern Days and its cool seeing a little "old town" and then a modern area with skyscrapers and glass buildings.
Multiplayer support is another significant addition in Tropico 5, allowing up to four players to compete or cooperate in island-building endeavors.
The voice acting is both good and hilarious.
