After completing certain quests (it wasn't obvious which ones did this), your current emperor's reign would abruptly end and the story would fast-forward to the next generation.
TLDR: No story, gameplay is fun with a bit of complexity in team building but it loses novelty on second playthrough as you can properly abuse a united attack system and eliminate bosses pretty quick.
The graphics are really well done, and my computer despite being a bit older at this point ran it pretty well with no issues.
