As I have mentioned earlier, if you want to play with a friend, get the emulator and play local co-op.
Enhanced visuals, optional filters, and support for higher resolutions modernize the presentation without compromising its retro identity.
Progress is stored via cleverly encoded passwords which save every little bit of information like: characters, MAX and current state of upgrades, money, score, collectibles, and of course levels beaten.
This fills the game with an incredibly intense atmosphere that is built up in equal measure by the bleak graphical style and the outstanding industrial-tinged techno soundtrack.
Online multiplayer is poorly optimized.
If you know the optimized path through each map then it might make it easier, but it will still be a hard mission to get them.
