Everything in this game that's inspired by something else has its own spin on it to make it unique, and when it's blended into the vague story, the game can leave a strong impression on anyone who allows themselves to get at least somewhat immersed.
absolutely wonderful little game in the vein of yume nikki, silent hill, and earthbound. the writing really spoke to me, and the atmosphere is fantastic. kind of astounding it's free, if there's a soundtrack dlc or something in the future i'd love to support the dev.
The visuals blend 2d characters in a 3d world to create a charming atmosphere and uses limitations of the engine to its advantage to enhance the quirkiness or the feeling of isolation of each new location you get to explore.
The actual gameplay can be described as just walking and figuring out what to do in certain areas with certain information that you get from exploring.
However the game has a (if a little bit simple) combat system, interesting and (usually) fun to solve puzzles, and fun concepts that definitely make it stand apart and make it interesting to explore to see what random shenanigans happen next.
