What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
- You loved Golf Story and want a comparable experience but dedicated to football.
Progression is way too easy and fast.
The world / Graphics are good but it would be nice to have a few extra quests as it seems a bit front heavy in some places but that might be due to most of the "upgrades" happening in the first couple of seasons.
First impressions: Works flawlessly on Steam Deck; the game engine in matches is fun and challenging, easily as good as any of the modern retro football games on the market; the story is well enough written with some good and very on-brand humour (good West Country pub vibes and excellent use of a vuvuzela so far!); solid settings including accessibility and varying difficulty and you can even simulate the games if you're just here for the story; and it's introducing features and training gradually.
Honestly this game is definitely worth the price, the quality of game play is really smooth and playing with a controller is definitely way more fun!!
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
No recurring complaints surfaced in this sample.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 5 more themes were each raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and are not shown.
