Crackshell is working on Hammerwatch II right now, as well as a 10th Anniversary edition of this very OG gem, porting it to their newer engine (like Heroes) and changing some gameplay mechanics as well as adding a third campaign.
Bought it again on gog later when it was on sale, because I was totally appreciate the devs adding a second campaign for free!

The interesting part is that in multiplayer games, the whole party shares those lives, which means playing recklessly will affect your teammates too.
Previously the game had no proper mouse support but as of patch 1.4 that is no longer true and you can enjoy it with the mouse+keyboard combo as equally as you would with the gamepad.
