The sequel, Planet Strike, sharpens pacing, difficulty, and environmental variety, making it feel like an early attempt at refining FPS campaign structure rather than merely expanding the original.
Visually each game uses a different style, Blake Stone has more cartoonish graphics like in Wolfenstein 3D while Rise of the Triad uses digitized actors and props for it's sprites making for a realistic look.
It allows for modern controls (WADS+Mouse) along with proper widescreen support while retainin the gameplay and changing little else.
Also, my fawning praise for Rise of the Triad couldn’t be complete without mentioning the darling soundtrack.
The map is on your screen at all times which means you won't have to keep pulling up the map like in the first one.
