All this while playing the game on Linux through Proton, as it at the time of writing doesn't have an official Linux build.
The most obvious example of this is the size and scope of the game but the game also uses detailed graphics, color palettes and audio that goes beyond the scope of the NES, all this while being faithful in feeling and atmosphere to what a sequel would have looked like on the NES console.
The soundtrack itself is very true to what NES hardware would be able to do with maybe a few additional channels.
Definitely a fun nostalgia romp with replayability due to multiple endings and again, a few well hidden secrets.
Much like the games that inspired this title, the main game play consists of a view port, action menu, mini view port and inventory.
