Quake II

Id Software even tried adding a late 90s military sci-fi story in this game, which while basic and formulaic, does at least provide context to your actions and a nice sense of progression as you gradually dismantle the Strogg’s military capabilities.

With the exception of the Proximity Launcher all weapons are useful, unfortunately for the Disruptor we barely find any ammo.

The game comes with all 3 DLC's included, and that prolongs the story a lot.

Sadly (for Id Software) a new contender emerged from out of nowhere, a game that not only had a more captivating single player campaign, but also better graphics (+audio) and a more advanced engine, that could easily handle huge open areas.

You start the first level and you're greeted by a fantastic track which introduces the game and the rest of the music direction for the soundtrack.

New engine, 3D card support without extra programs, an intergalactic war between man and an alien race instead of the messed up "dark fantasy" setup, diverse weaponry and of course a new standard for multiplayer gaming.
