Death of a Wish

When Death of a Wish was first announced, the first thing I wondered was "how will this be different from Lucah: Born of a Dream?" Lucah had an excellent combat system, an engaging nightmare of a narrative, and of course, vibes for days.

However, I find both to be very necessary for the kind of game and story Death of a Wish and Lucah are.

They drop stamina, introduce a guard breaking mechanic with combo chaining in-between parries and dodges, add even more layers to the already wildly expressive combat of Lucah will making sure it doesn't get overwhelming, and the way they handle corruption?

The sound design is as fitting and helpful as the visuals - the attacks have clear audio cues, and the VA is absent.

It's challenging but with the options to modify difficulty and the upgrades/abilities in game I was able to learn and improve and really get a feel for the rhythm.

The sound design is minimal yet effective, using ambient noises and occasional music cues to enhance mood without overwhelming the player.
