Levels have moving floors, better lighting, rooms on top of other rooms, and fully 3D objects in the level. (having Kyle Katarn's spaceship drop him off and pick him up at the beginning and end of each level was a real flex!) You could jump!

They preserved the original sprites, textures, levels, and sounds but gave us quality of life improvements where it counts in terms of aiming, controls, framerate, and resolution.

While storytelling is delivered through brief cutscenes and mission briefings rather than cinematic spectacle, the plot serves as a strong foundation for the action.

You’ll kill A LOT of Imperials (this cannot be understated, Kyle Katarn shows a level of murder glee that gives Lara Croft a run for her money) and gain increasingly powerful weapons to help you kill even more of them.

Overall, it’s a great audio journey that only gets occasionally undermined by drumlines that will make your ears bleed (in most aspects, the sound design is fantastic and well modernized, and you probably will finish most maps before having the background arrangement drilled into you).

The two have come together for this latest release, which sees Nightdive upscaling Dark Forces' textures, enhancing its lighting, and allowing it to run on 4k at up to 120 fps, all while preserving the game so that it plays exactly like it did in 1995.
