Endless Dark

The writing in this game is phenomenal, and while you certainly can play the game on an easier difficulty to experience it, I think the difficulty adds weight to the story and helps you empathize with the main characters all the more as you move through it.

I mentioned before that the gameplay is a bit dull, and while I wouldn’t completely change that statement, as long as you keep upping the difficulty the more you play (particularly with the MORE EVENTS, MORE INSANITIES, and FRANTIC REAL-TIME settings), gameplay can also become pretty fun and interesting.

The somewhat cute art style of this game provides a rather unsettling contrast to its main overall story, but the developers have put a lot of effort into the art style to make sure just about anyone can play it without too much visual confusion, including those with degrees of color-blindness -- which is something I can really respect.

There is definitely lots of replay value, especially since you can up the difficulty and you can literally choose how to go about doing things (or not choose when stuff is like oh no you're going to go the opposite directions for 4 turns gl :') ).

Furthermore, the sound design of this game is another potentially controversial choice, but is masterfully done.
