What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
I haven't even tried multiplayer yet, but this game has a reputation for having some of the best online multiplayer.
The track environments are really well designed too, with a high sense of realism and some beautiful lighting effects and the only thing I can say was missing is different types of weather, which certainly would have taken all the mayhem to another level, especially imagining aquaplaning your way across a wet track or skidding over ice and snow.
The custom game mode truly offers an infinite amount of replayability, because there's just so many ways to mix and match vehicles, maps, and rule sets to create new interesting scenarios.
There's a server browser, which sounds great at first, but it too sucks when you actually look at it.
One more thing to mention here is the brilliant soundtrack, containing a collection of alternative rock songs that help to emphasise the complete bedlam and atmosphere of the game.
The campaign is long (30+ hours) and an absolute joy so far.

Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
No recurring complaints surfaced in this sample.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. One more theme was raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and is not shown.
