Tomb Raider I (1996)

The graphics and engine have been for their time revolutionary, it ran - for example - smoothly on the PSX for that time, and it was an impressive feat.

But these just supplement the best part of the game; the gameplay and controls themselves.

Now for the gameplay, The game is fun, difficult platforming, no hand-holding, secrets, The story is also intriguing with good enemy types, and good locations. the other weapons are rewarding with more than enough ammo to be found for them.

I won't spoil it too much, but there are multiple points where the story catches you off-guard and has a nice twist.

However, the standout aspect is the amazing soundtrack, which is super iconic and consistently enhances the grandiose atmosphere when players enter new and breathtaking areas such as the Sphinx in Egypt or an underground cistern filled with water.

The learning curve is magnificent, gradually building up the difficulty and length with each level.
