The first game served well for showing everyone great game mechanics, but after playing Soul Reaver 2, the previous title would serve just as a prelude, as the story in this one unfolds gorgeously.
Fantastic voice acting and writing, great game mechanics, clunky-ass combat but since the game focuses on a more narrative experience, it's totally fine.
The combat and graphics have obviously been improved quite a bit.
