While the narrative sometimes feels underdeveloped or rushed, especially toward its conclusion, it succeeds in creating an emotional throughline that gives context to the player’s actions.

Contrast is an atmospheric puzzle-platform game that wears its artistic ambitions proudly, presenting a world where visual style, metaphor, and mechanics are tightly interwoven.

While the ending feels a bit like a letdown and controls do not always behave the way you want them to, this can easily be overlooked for the charismatic characters and breathtaking visuals.

Accompanying this presentation is a jazz-infused soundtrack that enhances the sense of time and place, lending emotional weight to scenes without overwhelming them.

I feel like the game has a nice difficulty spike with these puzzles, instead of always difficult all the time, however a lot of the later puzzles you can totally cheese by doing some really really awkward platforming.

You can also play this with a controller, which I think suits the overall controls better.
