i wish there was a "mixed" option, but as it stands, i can't recommend UNBEATABLE to the vast majority of people i know. when i was describing how i felt about this game to my friend who hadn't played it and never intended to (based on how pretentious we both found the intro sequence), he replied "potential game", and i was thinking to myself wow man, he has no idea how much that really perfectly encapsulates it. unbeatable's story and gameplay are full of unrefined passion that ends up, unfortunately, too unrefined for me to ignore.

let me get two things out of the way: if you are here for the RHYTHM GAME part of unbeatable, the arcade mode is EXTREMELY fun, and the art direction for the entire game is phenomenal. if you like muse dash, taiko, or god forbid splatoon's squid beats minigame, it's like more of those games coupled with a fantastic original soundtrack!

The animation and art style are great too, but the clumsy gameplay and badly optimized larger 3d scenes cause frame drops and some spatial confusion about where your character is when the camera hard shifts from one perspective to another.
