* The story is pretty well written, the characters evoke a wide spectrum of emotional response, and it unfolds in a mostly satisfying way.
Gameplay consists of unlocking new characters, assigning them to either a) creating resources, b) turning resources into different resources (2 tiers), c) “living”, thereby advancing the story and unlocking new options or characters or d) working on long-term (up to ~20 hours) upgrades.
The art style is very cute!
Graphics are straightforward (beyond accusations of AI use, but that’s a whole other can of worms), the soundtrack is nice for an idler but will inevitably get muted.
The timeline and quest tree menus do some real heavy lifting in this regard by helping you visualize the more complex plot threads, and it's an interesting example of a game's interface/mechanics aiding in telling a story.
