Penumbra: Black Plague Gold Edition

Except this time, every puzzle is much better worked into the general story.

One of the main reasons I sometimes try out a horror game like Resident Evil, is because the progression feels perfect in every single one.

The graphics, while not cutting-edge by today's standards, effectively convey the grim atmosphere and gritty textures of the underground facility.

Black Plague is far more adventurous, filled with intriguing mythology, interesting puzzles, fantastic voice acting, and doesn't contain any ridiculously forced combat sequences that I took issue with in Overture.

The use of a realistic inventory system, where objects can be examined and combined, adds depth to the puzzle-solving aspect.

The new monsters were much better and scarier (though a bit too goofy when they talked) and worked much better for the run-and-hide loop that Frictional are known for, but too easy to avoid.
