There's something of an open-world approach in most sections of the game where you are free to explore and do the necessary plot goals in whatever order you wish, as the difficulty in each section's individual areas is overall consistent for that area in question.

All in all, gameplay is superb, with replay value I have only begun to discover the depth of, 20+ hours in.
Also, it looks great on both PC and the Steam Deck, with different layouts designed specifically for each setup.
The pixel art and sound design are both excellent; pretty faithful to the intended vibe but uses some effects that I think are a bit more modern to great effect.
