What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
I also tried to keep an open mind because I had seen story-driven roguelites work well more than once.
To summarize Hellboy: Web of Wyrd won’t be one of the best roguelikes you play, but the charming art comic book art style that so closely resembles the pages of the comic makes it worthwhile just to experience that.
The feel of hitting things with the Right Hand of Doom - mainly in the strong attacks and the finishers - is badass, the voice acting is great, the characters have neat dialogues which are fun to see, enemies and environments have great visual designs, mechanics are easy to grasp, interesting concepts like only being able to have 3 power-ups because they represent different, conflicting aspects of the Wyrd...
The gameplay loop basically isn't made for MnK, so definitely requires a controller.
Also, runs GREAT on the steam deck (just change the resolution to 720p).
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway.
