The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
Characters may ask for something written by a woman and related to crime, only to accept any irrelevant book as long as it meets one criterion, or later claim they actually wanted romance.
It manages to combine relaxing management gameplay with delightful storytelling and customization, creating a uniquely soothing and engaging experience for players who enjoy slower-paced, thoughtful games.
The game’s art style is warm and inviting, featuring hand-drawn illustrations that evoke the cozy ambiance of a sunlit bookstore filled with wooden shelves and stacks of colorful books.
The first part of the game is fun, interesting, trying to manage your money and your inventory and the goals that pop up.
Other than that my one and only actual complaint is for the Steam Deck port- when you buy items from locals at the markets, the first item is ALWAYS covered by the summary's so you can't see it at all- please if you're a dev for this game fix it so the summaries float under each item rather than to the left!!
The soundtrack complements this perfectly, with gentle, acoustic melodies and ambient sounds like rustling pages and quiet chatter that enhance the feeling of being tucked away in a peaceful retreat.
