What players think
The recurring themes across 64 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
Book of Korvald is a 2D RPG action game, with a story that mixes Nordic mythology, eldritch entities, Catholic crusades and fantasy creatures, to offer a dense and rich narrative with a large number of characters and each of them with their own background.
In terms of gameplay, the controls are a bit iffy at times (not bad, just noticeable), and I definitely got softlock-stuck at least once, but I see these more as quirks than flaws.
Graphics - It's nice!
The plot is interesting, it seems to be following a overarching narrative that wasn't made up on the spot, I love the voice acting, it adds depth and immersion.
I also found Normal difficulty to be pretty easy, so I'll definitely be bumping it up on my next go around!
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway.
