The overall flavor of the world/plot/characters is a mix of Star Trek (Somewhat formalized Military Structure, focus on diverse crew personalities) + Gundam (active problems between crew, Giant Robots and importance of piloting robots).
I also like you can change the graphics anytime from vivid to studio to something called doujin mode.
I enjoy retro games immensely, and the soundtrack was fun.
Gameplay is very simple, like the games it draws inspiration from.
Interactive objects can be highlighted easily, and the game even highlights the inventory when there is an item you can use, so you don't have to blindly try every item with every object like old school point and click adventure games.
