this game ♥♥♥♥♥, and is unequivocally the best survivor like in my eyes for combat depth, and second to none in build crafting. the ability to see how your ideas for skill and gear combinations work in practice is so incredibly, remarkably good and fun. between the hyperspecific detail and control of modding/crafting you can do to genes gear for your character is impeccable and thematically so fun. with a persistent progression and structure like path of exile/mystery dungeon games, and incredibly complex gearing system. if you love survivorlikes or rpgs, you will adore mutagenic to the moon or hell and back — and AND you can be a cute lil vampire or robot guy with glowing wings and plasma guns for arms. if you like survivorlikes or buildcrafting, i urge you to please buy this game. i only review games when i am seriously passionate about them and believe they deserve to have and see more attention, and this little game about building and equipping genes as weapons, deserves so so much more of exactly that.

it's nearly there but I've been playing this on the steam deck and if the cursor gets moved out of the center of the screen then you can have some troubles getting interactions with the character to work correctly; this also causes a bit of an issue with the search functionality and it can be a bit finnicky to be able to get the search to work due to needing the cursor to be on top of the input box while also needing to move the cursor to input characters from the virtual keyboard
