The writing is good, but not quite top-tier in this respect.
The gameplay itself can get even exciting at times, when the pace is set by the wonderful soundtrack.
The graphics and art design are more than acceptable and I appreciate the unusual art style, even if the maps are somewhat confusing.
The soundtrack is wonderful; the art-style is fun although not entirely to my liking.
* speaking of gear, your inventory does fill up with junk after a while. it's also funny at first how many items give you straight debuffs, but then it gets kind of boring once you get a few pieces without drawbacks and everything else is trash, other than the situational items which are very gamey and minmaxy to juggle, and also i don't think i got to make use of a single of the situational buff items after i got them.
It plays very well on the Steam Deck.
