If you die, you lose all non-permanent items which really ups the ante and makes exploring that much more significant.

Story-wise, it took a few interesting turns here and there and my only complaint would be that with so many characters it can be hard to keep track of who's even important and the lack of voice-acting does make the character stand out less but I still enjoyed it and considered the three basic ending options for a bit so I did give a damn in the end.

I also love the witches with Victorian attire who make wry remarks if you use melee weapons, like "Fancy yourself a knight?" WR manages to sates my appetite for a Soulsborne style game, yet it never felt like an uninspired copycat.

The difficulty is just right, with options for those who want more or less challenge.

The soundtrack is also incredible, and it's notable that the game is unafraid to use silence/ambience when needed, in common with its survival horror influences.

Dilapidated backgrounds bathe in crispy lighting, the visuals are explicit and raw, overtly Satanic, with slick animations and stark enemy designs stimulating the ultra-violence.
