Crow Country

The game has truly unmatched atmosphere, the soundtrack is amazing, the story is PEAK and there are a surprising amount of secrets.

The exploration was engaging, the puzzles were fun, the combat is perfectly stressful(especially on mouse and keyboard), the setting was perfect, every area had amazing and cool subareas.

They're also quite easy to kill, and you have essentially infinite resources on any of the difficulty options below the very hardest.

Sound design is also so good that I felt uncomfortable in the same room with enemies off screen even while having enough weapons required to deal with them easily.

The less polished look and graphics add to the charm and the characters you meet along the way are fun to interact with.

The soundtrack is equally reminiscent of RE1-2-3, with an eerie but also comforting chiptune, taking the design philosophy of the old greats in giving nearly every single area its own soundtrack, and by extension a personality of its own that helps frame every scene, just another of the many cherries ontop of this generously frosted cake.
