The writing is good, albeit a bit uneven throughout the game and there are a few moments that stick out to me even when not playing.
At the end of the day, Octopath Traveler 2 is a game that excels in presentation and gameplay but fumbles the storytelling.
The graphics are gorgeous and immersive, although I am sure I have a little nostalgia goggles by comparing it to JRPGS in 2000s.
Even voice acting is good.
For the record, playing it on the steam deck (which is flawless).
*The initial impression on recruiting new party members being poor still remains here, though thankfully they all have much better banter and they're not missable this game because they can be viewed through the pause menu.
