Scarlet Maiden

If you ignore the smut, Scarlet Maiden hides a gameplay gem that should be on your radar.

Difficulty ramps in a way that rewards learning rather than grinding alone, and the steady accumulation of upgrades ensures that players feel stronger and more capable with each return to the Underworld.

There are several melee weapon types between spears, hammers, daggers, and swords that you can use as well as plenty of magic spells to use across several element types!

The story "ends" but leaves plenty of room for new adventures for the main character to go on, which is good.

Visually, Scarlet Maiden leans into a detailed pixel-art style that balances retro sensibilities with modern polish.

The story/writing is pretty bad and the game is fairly short, but there's a pretty decent variety of items and enemies and the controls are fine using a controller.
