Story is pretty okay, nothing special... standard JRPG fare.
There are two types of meta-progression, one of which is pretty necessary to the story and gameplay.
Also, I'm at a midgame difficulty spike where I'm really having to grind for more boosters for unlocks and meta progress to make any progress, and its making me view their "DLC" with a bit more side-eye.
