The game also leverages this theme even further by slightly changing the core gameplay of the genre by having your minions attack on your behalf instead of attacking for yourself like most other games in the genre which adds a welcome twist to the genre since this mechanic dictates how and where you position yourself.

General premise aside, it's very well executed, the meta progression is wide and shallow, mostly a formality, most of the replay value comes from game modes and classes, it's just fun to play and the classes are different enough to meaningfully influence how you play.

The graphics are made up of very cute pixel art which is pleasing to look at; however, things can become very cluttered in later loops or if you manage to survive for long enough in the survival mode which makes it extremely difficult to see things.

Pumping through the crypts is a great soundtrack and the compelling game play itself is wrapped around a quirky, cool, and downright silly theme/world/lore...

I love Vampire Survivors, especially on the Steam Deck (where I can sniff the exhaust vent while the game plays itself), and no other game will ever fully equal the same sheer craziness and fun of the original.

I really enjoy raising boners as an alternative to choosing weapons in most other horde survival games.
