- Music and audio design is solid throughout with some great voice acting and comedic writing in spots.
Like in most RPGs, there is plenty of grind involved in progression, but the grind mostly consists in word-guessing and riddle-solving itself, mixed with a tolerable amount of fishing (which was the least fun minigame) and combat (slightly repetitive), so it's enjoyable enough as far as grind goes.

Visually, Cryptmaster adopts a stark, monochrome art style that feels both old-school and intentionally stylized.
I appreciated the accessibility feature of hitting enter to automatically type for things like bugs and statues as it saved on excess busywork.
I played mostly on Steam Deck but the bug name typing was too annoying so i switched to my desktop pc, sadly because it works very well on the Steam Deck and i enjoyed the controller play style more than typing but the bugs name are way too long to type on the controller, everything wouldn't be a problem if you can use mouse and controller at the same time but seems like it's not possible, when you choose to play with controller the mouse and keyboard seems to be disabled so you can't use the touchscreen from the steam deck, being able to use both would be so much better so i hope the devs can consider it if they see this review.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. One more theme was raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and is not shown.
