Gales of Nayeli

So much thought put into the world, its characters, the multitude of mechanic ideas and concepts that, while they don’t quite stick the landing, create a very satisfying and meaty experience.

Tonally, the character writing is surprisingly in-depth, grounded, there are jokes and goof characters but for so much of the game’s own runtime it’s a very solemn and ponderous experience.

Basically every playable character is likable, every combat scenario makes sense, and not a single chapter felt like filler.

A few small technical problems (fullscreen/resolutions are janky, could use some QoL features) and the artist, though lovely at character design, clearly can't do weapons.

Difficulty is reasonable for the most part—I played on Normal—with one major exception.
