Etrian Odyssey HD

Not only do I enjoy the gameplay overall, It does make me immersed into the game itself, as if I’m some kind of explorer that gets into some unknown dungeon, waiting to be explored.

If the 3DS games get ported then I'd recommend one of those as an entry point, but with the HD collection's QOL, difficulty options, and bug fixes, EO1 is much more viable as a first game than it used to be.

Combat is good, levelling up feels good, visual design is good, map marker system is really cool and helpful, challenge is good yet feels fair.

Good old-style dungeon crawler with turn based battles and good character customization.

The map controls moving over to pc takes a little getting used to but they somehow made drawing on the map relatively painless either through the right stick on your controller + triggers to select things, or preferably just simply using the touch screen on the steam deck or mouse to draw since they worked in kb and mouse controls.

Works AMAZING on the steam deck and cloud saves sync from your PC and Steam deck so you can take this game on the go.
