What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
Played it basically 4 different times by now total, one of which being full shiny playthrough and the effort put to just make a good experience shows when playing, there are many different possible strategies to try out for many different matches, the story is complete with side quests to know more about some characters and plenty of activities during it, any bugs I managed to find and reported were fixed in reasonable time, given there were some early access quirks like Beasties phasing through a wall to pathfind to the player but I'm pretty certain that is intentional for now until a proper one will be developed.
This isn't even talking about the actual content of the game, like the randomizers and nuzlockes and roguelike mode for replayability.
Or how it's a completely unique battle system since it's literally anime volleyball (there are special attacks that hit both opponents with one ball, for example) Or the highly varied and incredibly high quality soundtrack by Lena Raine (Dingy Dust-Up is really good!
Beastieball is an imaginative and confident genre hybrid that fuses creature collection, tactical turn-based combat, and sports strategy into a cohesive and highly distinctive experience.
From a PvP perspective, the game has enough strategies and diverse win conditions that no two games feel alike even with the same teams.
While not all beasties are fully implemented at the time of writing, the ones that are at least mostly done showcase strong visual identity, diverse palettes, and a consistent art style.

Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
No themes split opinion in this sample.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. One more theme was raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and is not shown.
