Given how rare it is to find FPS Metroidvanias, and how the Metroid Prime series takes a vastly different scan-everything-and-read approach to world-building and atmosphere, Frogmonster stands out in its ability to deliver information and emotion to the player.
So, I got around halfway through I guess, I also didn't finish it (just as with Animal Well where I only played the first ending and Nioh which I quit after the Credits for the main Game were rolling) because the frustration meter was too high.
At least some bosses were kind of fun and getting new abilites and the feeling of progression is also nice
The graphical style is what I can best describe as "3D pixel" look, and graphics are not the only thing in Frogmonster to hold a retro ideal.
