Samurai Bringer is a compact yet surprisingly deep action experience that fuses fast-paced swordplay with roguelite progression and a strong foundation in Japanese mythological themes.
It has some problems with longevity, but for its incredibly reasonable price tag, great visuals, innovative systems, and high level of polish, its a strong recommend.
There's not much in the way of story from what i've played so far, but makes for a fun time if you just want something to boot up and jump right in to for a run or two.
Sound design complements this approach with impactful audio cues for attacks and abilities, while the soundtrack maintains an energetic pace that underscores the urgency of each encounter without becoming overwhelming.
Runs great on the Steam Deck although big crowds WILL cause the FPS to suffer, dipping to 30/40fps briefly until enemies clear.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 3 more themes were each raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and are not shown.
