DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue

At the heart of the experience is the combat system, which retains the accessible hack-and-slash gameplay of the first game while adding a wider arsenal to keep encounters lively.

The dialogue is written with a playful rhythm reminiscent of classic LucasArts adventure games, and Ron Gilbert’s influence is obvious in the dry wit, eccentric characters, and the willingness to be unapologetically silly.

The humor and characters in this game are really well done and the combat is satisfying enough.

once you can muscle past the difficulty spike the game goes back to having the proper difficulty curve it should have and continues feeling fair again

The irreverent, often nonsensical and somewhat meta humour and interesting art style leave a lasting impression, at least on me, and going back into DeathSpank was a touch nostalgic, as well as interesting.

Voice acting is another standout, with DeathSpank’s booming, overconfident delivery anchoring the humor and supporting characters adding personality throughout the journey.
