your character dies in 3 hits most of the time, but everytime you parry you heal one third of your health. parries are easy to pull of with the games super tight and responsive control.
In conclusion, the game felt quite retro and was fun to play even though I had to ignore the bugs, the clunkiness and some questionable design choices (for example checkpoint placement).
The visuals are beautiful to me and I appreciate the unique way of story telling so far.
Mechanically it is where it shines, and the difficulty level plummets once you actually get the hang of things, except for spikes, they will always be my bane!
Looks good enough, seems smooth enough, has some decent effects, weird graphics, but still clean.
