Story and characters
Players who bring up Story and characters mostly praise it.
Neon Splash has no spoilers for the original game (the original wasn't plot-heavy anyway, and this one has even less of an excuse for a plot), so it's a good place to sample it without making a huge commitment/investment.

Gameplay
Players who bring up Gameplay mostly praise it.
While the talking point of "they all blend together" could technically apply to Neon Splash's levels, it wasn't an issue for me because it didn't have any annoying 100% completion tasks that involved trying to figure out which level had the subject of a required photo, or anything else that detracts from the core gameplay.

Graphics
Players who bring up Graphics mostly praise it.
The graphics are heavily inspired by vaporwave aesthetic: they’re nice and vibrant and Beebz leaves a trail of paint behind where she walks.

Audio
Players who bring up Audio mostly praise it.
The platforming is done greatly, with a soundtrack that works incredibly well, the artstyle is just lovely and the whole atmosphere is extremely comfy, thanks to the adorable characters too.

Difficulty
Players who bring up Difficulty mostly praise it.
But I would've rather played this one before I played the first game, so that people don't get bored with the first game's boring levels in those first worlds, the remixes gave actual difficulty and were better suited for innovative platforming.
