What players think
The recurring themes across 181 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
You get narrative stories, away missions, and choices that directly affect the plot and the specific bonuses you get on that planet.
Combine that with a steady progression of ship difficulty over time, and you have a pretty great core gameplay loop.
But I want to talk about what makes this game greater than the sum of its graphics, sound, script, and programming...
The stories in the game, the puzzles, the pixel art and the soundtrack are all very well done.
You fly around a galaxy map picking planets to land on and having mini adventures (standard fare: interacting with objects in the world, inventory items, dialogue trees).
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
