What players think

The sports-inspired premise gives the adventure a unique personality, creating a lighthearted yet exciting narrative that complements the fast-paced gameplay without overwhelming it.

The soundtrack reinforces this atmosphere with energetic chiptune compositions that perfectly complement the action, while crisp sound effects provide satisfying feedback during combat, exploration, and platforming.
The art and theme of the game is really vibrant and inspired, and there are a ton of unique stage gimmicks and enemy varieties throughout the game that culminate well in the final act (there are a couple platforming setpieces that actually wowed me, which is hard for a game with 8-bit graphics).
Batboy's character also possesses unique skills, including a parry move and the ability to throw a spinning baseball bat, which can be used as an extension of their jump.
Gamepad is supported, even my beloved Stadia controller (connected via bluetooth) worked perfectly, which is not a given with all indie games.
