What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
Gameplay: extremely fun and with some really inspired choices, but it does get repetitive. some genius gameplay decisions to make playing the game just simply feel good. being told exactly what type of enemy you're going to fight and the rewards you'll get is so refreshing. infinite undos mean you're never mad when an interaction happens that you didn't expect. and being able to blast specific parts of the enemy ship to compliment your boarding build is so clever. multiple ways to win each encounter (kill all enemies in ship phase OR kill all enemies in boarding phase OR max fear). wounds and fracture system is genius, even if you get unlucky you have a chance to continue the run. late game is just about rolling good cannons which takes some of the fun out of things.
• Voice acting isn’t great, but I’ve heard worse.
The graphics are alright and easy to comprehend but nothing to write home about.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. 2 more themes were each raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and are not shown.
