Story is a little silly and the whole affair feels like an early 2000's forum chat inside-joke fest, but the mechanics are incredibly solid and the gameplay is ludicrously fun.

The art style and tone is very charming.
They made a retro fps game specifically for me, it's badass and i loove all the characters, the artstyle is great of course, that goes without saying, i could 100% see Project Abstentia being like a webcomic or a flash cartoon series, the gunplay at least from what i've played is wonderful and fun, i love the Rainbowizer specifically and the Boomstick, it's as if someone took all the things i like and all the aesthetics and art i enjoy and put them in a videogame from one of my favorite genres, game surprised me a lot with introducing new enemies but even on hard mode i was still able to figure out the trick to killing all of them, every enemy is weak and resistant to specific weapons and that's very fun, i love how many things this wears on it's sleeves as inspirations, the dialogue and voice acting is great specially with Gianni in the mix, Absentia's fun and cute and badass, she's soooo ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gay i love her.

Easy recommend for any old-school FPS fans.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
No recurring complaints surfaced in this sample.
