What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
The UI is colder and the playable characters are less caricaturesque and funny but more boring, bland and personality-lacking.
The graphics in the game are good for the genre, but to me the most beautiful graphic in the game is the little symbol that shows that iron and steel aren't available in the current era.
Tasks are relatively slow paced and in-game mechanics are pretty straightforward, which, in combination, provide a relaxed gameplay exerience.
Multiplayer support introduces collaborative opportunities that complement the management-focused design surprisingly well.
The map design is thoughtful, the music and atmosphere fit perfectly, and the interface improvements over the first game are substantial.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. One more theme was raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and is not shown.
