The retro graphics looks nice, they did a good job with the monsters sprites/3D models and their animations are good enough for the short window they will be alive before getting gibbed into pieces.
Must be related to the Unity engine version they are using, might need some optimization but no doubt it will be fixed in future builds.
I'm playing this on steam deck and it's a rough experience.
