Initially the game's other main combat mechanic is intriguing - collect your wizard staff and unlock the ability absorb new elemental powers that you can later upgrade and combine in fun ways.

Dialogue often pokes fun at genre conventions, and the protagonist’s role as a disgruntled villain adds a layer of humor that carries through the entire experience.

While Evil Wizard hits the mark in many respects including visuals, writing, and sound, in some ways it falls victim to its own mechanics that keeps it from being a 10 out of 10.

The difficulty level increases rapidly, and very soon we're facing hordes of enemies who unerringly bombard us with various projectiles, while their colleagues pummel us in close combat and regularly bring in supplies.
